Accessibility Act

Merivale Medical Imaging (MMI) Inc., is dedicated to providing a respectful and accessible environment for all patients, staff and visitors. We are committed to identifying, eliminating and preventing barriers for persons with disabilities by meeting the standards outlined by the province in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). The goal of AODA is to develop a fully accessible Ontario by the year 2025.

In compliance with the requirements under this Act, MMI has recently filed a certified accessibility report.  Please note that it may not be possible to image some patients at our facility due to weight restrictions on equipment.

The weight limitations are as follows:

  • Bone Mineral Density – 350 lbs (159 kg)

  • X-Ray Studies – 400 lbs (182 kg)

  • Nuclear Medicine Studies – 440 lbs (200 kg)

  • Ultrasound Studies – 350 lbs (159 kg)

For mammography exams, the arms of the wheelchair must be removable. For all imaging studies, patients must be able to self-transfer from their wheelchair to the imaging table. Due to the nature of an outpatient clinic, we do not have specialized lifting equipment available on-site; however, patients can bring someone to assist them with transferring and/or lifting.
